Student Volunteer Week has been celebrated remotely this year, from 30th march to the 5th of April, to acknowledge the impact that student volunteers make through volunteering.
Totara Hospice has many student volunteers in various roles, from Youth Ambassadors supporting Fundraising efforts, supporting the kitchen and Inpatient Unit and a number supporting the six Hospice Shops.
“Collective Impact: Give.Grow.Connect” is the theme of #SVW2020. Student volunteers give a hand and add real value to the community. Together they make a substantial impact on Aotearoa New Zealand. By giving to a community or cause, student volunteers grow and flourish. They gain knowledge and create change within their communities.
Thank you to all the students who choose to make an impact in their local community to support those living with a life limiting illness.

“My name is Ellen and I have been volunteering for Totara Hospice for almost 10 years now. I love to help out with the fundraising events, like speaking at the Long Lunch and serving at the Ladies’ Lunch. While keeping safe in my bubble I have turned to baking as a stress release. My favourite recipe so far is the one that my grandmother taught me to make: ‘Judy’s Tim Tam slice’.”
