Farmers Bauble - The Comfort of Hospice

UPDATE: Thank you to the four local Farmers stores who collectively raised over $50,000 for Totara Hospice.

Christmas is generally the time of year when we think of people who won't be with us during the festive season - they may have died, they may be living overseas or in other parts of the country, or perhaps just can't be with you at this time of year.

Up until Christmas Eve everyone who makes a donation to hospice whilst shopping in Farmers will recieve a remembrance card.  This card is an opportunity to write a special message for someone you'll be thinking about this Christmas.  Each Farmers has a dedicated Tree of Remembrance in store to display your message for friends and family and the community to see.

The Tree of Remembrance is a way to honour those we think of and support hospice.  As with the purchase of the limited edition baubles, 100% of everything donated remains within the community in which it was given, supporting the local hospice service.

Once again Farmers stores across New Zealand will be raising funds for their local Hospice service in the lead up to Christmas.   2020 is the 7th year that Farmers staff and customers will join together to raise funds, to keep hospice care free of charge in every community across Aotearoa.

There are two ways Farmers customers can support their hospice from 19 November until Christmas Eve – by donating to the Tree of Remembrance in Farmers stores or by purchasing a limited-edition hand painted hospice bauble, available instore and online.   Each bauble is $10 and thanks to the generous support of Farmers, the full $10 from every purchase will be donated to the local hospice service.   Farmers also passes on 100% of all customer donations to hospice from the Tree of Remembrance. This year’s bauble is Comfort by Hospice.

Providing wrap around services, compassion and comfort, Hospice supports people to live every moment – to spend time with those they care about, in the places they love, bringing joy and creating memories that last forever.

2020 has been a challenging year for many with the impact of the global COVID 19 pandemic affecting us all.  Many people have reflected on what is important, who matters most to them and how they want to live their lives going forward – something that people using hospice services and their families are encouraged to do, to seek comfort in one another as the end of life approaches.

Comfort by Hospice was inspired by a group of people in Christchurch who generously shared their experience of their loved one’s death, supported by hospice.  Whilst each person’s situation was unique to them and their family and whānau – they were united by the guidance hospice provided, the empathy and understanding and clinical expertise of the hospice team that allowed good memories to be possible.

“Hospice surrounded us with love, we felt wrapped in compassion and comfort.  What a gift” a particpant reflected.

There are limited numbers of the baubles available, they will sell out again. By purchasing a Comfort by hospice Bauble at these Farmers stores, your purchase will get donated directly to Totara Hospice:
