What We Do

Tōtara Hospice offers a range of specialist services, for patients, their carers and their families from a variety of health professionals.  All services are provided free of charge to all eligible patients.  Services include:

• In Patient Unit (24 hours, 7 days, 365 days of the year)
• Out patient clinic
• Day hospice programmes
• Community home visiting
• Telephone Advice Line

We work in a holistic way, recognising the physical, emotional, psychological and social care and support needs of patients and families.

We are proud to work alongside colleagues in our community including General Practice and Hospital teams to achieve the best outcomes possible for our patients.

As a specialist palliative care service we aim to:​

• Provide leading edge hospice palliative care services to individuals and their families, care networks and communities in the South and South East Auckland region.
• Raise awareness of Hospice and palliative care within the communities we serve
• Support skills development amongst providers of standard/usual care via education and training regarding hospice and palliative care.
• We are a member of Hospice New Zealand (HNZ) and provide services that meet HNZ standards, and those of the palliative care council of New Zealand and the practice requirements of the professional bodies of our clinicians
