Retail Donations

Your donations of saleable items help people and the environment! The funds raised from selling quality clothing, furniture and household items that you have kindly donated go directly to help patients and their families and ensure that goods stay in use and out of landfills.

Our Hospice Charity Shops run on the generosity of our community. If you have donations of saleable items please check the opening hours of the Distribution Centre or shop closest to you and just drop them into us. We appreciate receiving goods during our opening hours as items left outside of our shops are often stolen or damaged.

Pickups for larger items and bulk household goods

For larger items, or sizable donations of goods, we are happy to pick up your second-hand goods direct from your home, office or storage facility.
To arrange a pickup, please call 09 297 7550. between 9.00am and 3.00pm. Alternatively, you can email our Distribution Centre on warehouse@hospice.co.nz.

What to think about when you are donating to Tōtara Hospice Charity Shops

  • Would someone else want this – does it have a second life?
  • Check your donations to ensure they are clean and functional – this really helps our volunteers.
  • If you do have specialist or unusual items, please do not hesitate to give us a call to chat through to see if we can resell.
  • The best way to donate is to take your items directly to our Distribution Centre or one of our shops during opening hours, or as noted above for larger items or bulk loads give us a call.
  • You are helping Hospice Happen in your community – and also you are helping our environment – re-use is even better than recycling.
  • We hope you understand that we cannot accept donations that are broken or damaged as there is a cost for us to have to recycle these items, we really appreciate your consideration with this.

Items we love to sell!

We accept ‘Just the Good Stuff’' Items that sell well are clothing, accessories, jewellery, homewares, furniture, bric a brac, antiques and collectables. Other items that our community love buying are books, DVDs and small electrical appliances.
