Hospice House completed!
Several hundred invited guests attended the 'opening' of the Freemason's house for Hospice South Auckland at the Estate on Saturday 4 December.
Ian Ross, who with his brother Jim donated the section and masterminded the
project, thanked all those who had contributed in their various ways to bringing the two storey five-bedroom house to completion.
Hospice South Auckland Chairman John Savory expressed his heartfelt thanks to all for their generosity and commitment. He was also presented with the keys of a Ford Focus car, donated by Ford South Auckland as their contribution, for use by Hospice staff.
The house has been built on the section at 1 Corsica Way by a dedicated team of tradesmen and local Freemasons, supported by donations of materials and services from local businesses and suppliers.
"Everything used to build the house, all the fittings, furnishings furniture and appliances have been donated, and all the hours to build and fit-out have been freely given," says Ian.
The house will be open for inspection by the public over the next few months until it is sold at auction on Saturday April 17, 2010, with the total realised being donated to the Hospice.
A feature on the section at present is a huge noticeboard on which the names are written of all companies and individuals who contributed to the project.
The house has been landscaped and is fully furnished, with all appliances and facilities provided including a barbecue, lawnmower and a motor scooter for quick commuting!
