Volunteer Service
Volunteers have always had a high profile at Hospice South Auckland and they are an integral part of our service, making a vital contribution to hospice care in our area. Their roles are many and varied, but they share a common commitment to hospice and a willingness to contribute to the community in which they live.
On average, each donates 3 to 4 hours a week, helping with a specific aspect of our service. Not all are involved with families and patients, but may choose to lend a hand in our shops, gardens, support group, special fundraising or with clerical tasks.
Caregiving roles include driving, sitting with a patient at home to provide time out for relatives, helping in our in-patient unit and at daystay, recording a patient's biography or working as part of our bereavement service.
Orientation and on-going education and support are provided. More detailed information is available from the Volunteer Service Manager Lillian London on request. Phone 6400219
