Auckland Airport

In December 2009, Auckland Airport repeated its successful ’12 Days of Christmas’ initiative, this time in partnership with the New Zealand Herald. In the spirit of the season, Auckland Airport invited registered charities from within NZ to apply for the ‘12 days of Christmas’ promotion. Over the course of twelve days, Auckland Airport donated $10,000 each from traveller donations to 12 deserving charities, who had been selected from the hundreds of applicants by a panel of community leaders. The $120,000 was collected through the generosity of the travelling public, donating their unwanted currency into donation globes situated throughout the airport. Auckland Airport collects this money and donates it to charitable organisations on behalf of the travellers.
