Many Thanks to
Rotary Club of Otahuhu Inc.
The Wine Makers Lunch held on Sunday 18th October at Alexandra Park was again well supported with 180 people attending.
This is the second year this event has been organized by the Rotary Club of Otahuhu Inc. to assist Hospice South Auckland. Merv Ah Chee is thanked in particular from the Rotary Club for his superb co-ordination of this event. Lets Eat Group provided a 9 course tapas style menu and an excellent choice of wines from Villa Maria, Vin Alto and Montana that were matched to each course. Dave Roper from Villa Maria spoke about the choice of wines and their uniqueness. A group of students from Kings College assisted with serving the food and their involvement with this fundraising event was also much appreciated. Valerie Vili, Patron of Hospice South Auckland entertained guests about her recent overseas travels and her plans for the future. Valerie’s presentation was in the style of an interview hosted by well known TV presenter Brooke Howard-Smith asking the questions in an informal chat. Hospice staff were on hand to encourage guests to purchase a brick or paver in the Valerie Vili Rose Garden at the Hospice. An auction of variety items was successful with enthusiastic support by guests. John Savory, Chair of Hospice South Auckland and Brian Fitzpatrick, President of the Rotary Club of Otahuhu Inc. thanked all who attended and supported this fundraising event. $12,000 was raised for Hospice on the day. The Wine Makers Lunch is expected to continue as an annual event so diarise this special occasion for 2010. FULL STORY>>
