“I am proud to be the Founding Ambassador for such a wonderful community treasure.”
The hospice’s philosophy is to care for the whole person, aiming to meet as many needs as we can - physical, emotional, social and spiritual wherever they are.
“I was only 15 at the time my mother was struggling with cancer. I remember not knowing what a hospice was for, which was good at the time, and I later learned that it was a place people go to live every moment. I was so glad that I had the full support of people who knew exactly what I was going through. It meant a lot to me to be away from that hospital smell, with clean sheets…. and to have a bathroom all to myself.
“I have always had it in my mind that I would someday repay Hospice South Auckland for everything they did for my family. On the long nights, I knew my mother would only want me to care for her. But when she slept, the hospice wanted to make sure I was cared for too.
“Anyone who is dying has the opportunity to celebrate their life with the help of hospice. Here in South Auckland I am proud to be the Founding Ambassador for such a wonderful community treasure.”
