Volunteer Awards Sep09
On Saturday 20th June 2009, Hospice South Auckland held it’s Annual Volunteer Recognition/Long Service Awards afternoon tea.
It turned out to be a warm, sunny day at The Gardens School, Manurewa. It was no wonder with a room full of ‘rays of sunshine’- our treasured volunteers. Around 200 guests were entertained by SOAP, a Barbershop quartet and also Jo Pavletich-Volunteer Services Manager and her music partner Andrew Healey performed a song or two! The “ray of sunshine” theme gave us licence to colour the hall with sunflowers and suns with smatterings of gold and yellow. Celebrating all our volunteers and the milestones many had reached, Hospice Chief Executive Gary Sturgess and Chairman John Savory handed out Long Service Awards. Some Statistics for you: Approximately 80 long service awards were given out but there were actually 118 recipients in total. We currently have approximately 500 volunteers, with 208 shop roles, 194 roles having direct patient contact and 83 miscellaneous roles with no patient contact.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, management and staff of the Hospice, we extend to each and every one of our recipient volunteers our sincerest congratulations on achieving this status. A hugh thank you to all our treasured volunteers.
Thank you to our sponsors and contributors who helped make the day such a success: The Gardens School, Carlton Party Hire, Pernod Ricard, Pak n Save Manukau, Frenzs Eggs, Hannah Match Ltd, Mark Pavletich/Andrew Healey for sound gear, SOAP- Pride of Auckland Barbershop Quartet, Katrina from Accent Photography, First Scene Party Hire, Arthurs Emporium, Rococo Gifts and Kings College.
