Shop Elves Seek Your Support

Hi There – I’m one of Santa’s Elves and it’s my job to help Santa get sorted for Christmas each year.

The thing is, with the downturn in the economy all over the world there are not as many brand new presents being built. Instead, Santa’s investigators tell us that people all over are buying their presents this year from charity outlets like Hospice Shops.
That’s great according to Santa. Not only does he get to have a bit of a break, but the giving spirit of Christmas is twice as great because every present bought from a Hospice Shop helps provide much needed care in the local community – so the gift is bought once but given twice!  PLUS my eco-friendly reindeer friends tell me that the carbon footprint of a second-hand item is much lower than a new one as there are no wasteful packaging or transport costs. How about that?
So this year, Santa has sent thousands of elves like me to help all of the amazing volunteers in the Hospice Shops.  It is my job to keep you up to date with what’s happening over the Christmas period so I’d like to pass on a few little housekeeping points, if I may?
Opening Hours
This year, our volunteers and shop staff will be taking a well earned break and the shops will be closed from 4pm Tuesday 23 December and re-open on Monday 12 January.  Gary and the team have asked me to wish all of our volunteers and staff a happy and safe holiday!
Donations
During the closedown period I would ask you all to hold on to your wonderful donations until we re-open.  Last year many people donated goods to us by leaving them on our doorstep.  Sadly, those items (many of them brand new unwanted Christmas presents that were made by me and my Elf friends) were either stolen, weather damaged, or simply removed by the Council.  PLEASE don’t let it happen this year. Much better to come and see my friends at the shops once they re-open on 12 January!
