Kharis House Auction

As those who have been following the story will know, Kharis (a kind gift) House was built using donated goods and labour on a section at Karaka Harbourside Estate donated by Ian and Jim Ross.

Despite doubts about the weather, a large crowd gathered on Saturday, April 12 for the Auction. The skies cleared long enough for the auction to proceed without too much interruption. After steady bidding with occasional breaks for arm twisting, the final figure of $810,000 was achieved.

Speaking on behalf of himself and the many who contributed to the house, Ian Ross thanked the crowd who attended and congratulated the successful bidder. "The money raised will be put in trust for the use of Hospice South Auckland," he said. "The trust will be administered by the Freemasons and the income used for the purposes of the Hospice."

On behalf of Hospice South Auckland we thank Ian and all those who contributed to this wonderful gift.
